In July-August 2009, 8 students, cadets, and midshipmen traveled to Santiago and Valparaiso Chile to conduct research on Chilean civil-military relations through ALLIES' 3rd annual Joint Research Project (JRP). To gain a better understanding of the situation on the ground, the students participated in a week-long seminar organized by renowned Judge Juan Guzman, responsible for indicting military dictator Augusto Pinochet, that brought together experts and practitioners from both sides of Chile's civil-military divide.
