Rebuild: Kosovo Six Years Later is the result of a week-long photojournalism workshop held by Gary Knight and Mort Rosenblum in Kosovo from August 20-27, 2005. Gary Knight, founding member of VII Photo Agency and acclaimed documentary photographer, and Mort Rosenblum, world affairs specialist who was Special Correspondent for The Associated Press and editor of the International Herald Tribune, guided and mentored fourteen students from Tufts University and Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.
The students worked as photographer/writer teams with each team pursuing a different story. The purpose of the workshop was to explore different facets of Kosovar society six years after the war. Such exploration is of particular relevance now as final negotiations - between representatives of Kosovo's Albanian majority and Serbia - to determine Kosovo's future political status began in early 2006. The outcome of the status negotiations will shape the future of the Balkans for generations to come.
The students' articles and photographs shine a light on Kosovo and document its path towards democratization, reconciliation and the rebuilding of a society shattered by a brutal conflict. Rebuild: Kosovo Six Years Later is the joint vision of The Christie Foundation and The Institute for Global Leadership at Tufts University.
