Santa Anita la Union, BUILD's 2008-2009 partner community, is a 160-person fair trade, organic coffee and banana cooperative located on the volcanic slopes of the Quetzaltenango Province in Western Guatemala. Santa Anita is composed almost entirely of former combatants of the URNG, the major guerrilla group that participated in the armed conflict against the Guatemalan government from 1960-1996. Today, the families of Santa Anita sell their coffee to a number of local and international coffee distributors.

Cafe Conciencia is "an international non-profit organization that works in solidarity with worker-owned coffee cooperatives in rural Guatemala to help them achieve social and economic justice." Cafe Conciencia runs out of offices in Quetzaltenango and New York, and seeks to promote Santa Anita's individual brand of toasted coffee.

Built on the model of the Clinton Global Initiative, CGI University seeks to engage new generations of leaders on college campuses across the United States. According to their website, "CGI U is more than just an event. It is a growing community of young leaders who don't just discuss the world's challenges -- they take real, concrete steps toward solving them." BUILD's project with Santa Anita la Union was a "Commitment to Action" through CGI-U, and the Initiative presented BUILD with a "Commitment to Action Award" in May 2009.

FUNDAP (Fundacion para el Desarrollo Integral de Programas Socioeconomicos) is a foundation based in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala dedicated to the holistic development of the most in-need, underdeveloped sectors of Guatemala. The Foundation is divided into eight programs, each dedicated to a particular theme (e.g. education, health, microenterprise, artisanship, etc.)

The leading buyer of Santa Anita's coffee, Just Coffee is a fair trade coffee roaster based in Madison, WI. Just Coffee seeks to promote living wages and justice in coffee growing communities, and sees fair trade as a tool to change the global economy. Each year, Just Coffee sends delegations to Santa Anita to immerse consumers in the lives of coffee growers.

Ms. Davis is a lifelong international philanthropist who has committed $1,000,000 to funding 100 "Projects for Peace" designed by university-aged youth. Now in its 3rd year, the program has funded projects around the world, and in 2009, BUILD was honored to be chosen as Tufts' selection for the 100 Projects for Peace competition.

Pura Vida is a fair trade coffee company based in Seattle, WA. In order to promote development in the areas in which it works, Pura Vida actively works with its partner communities like Santa Anita to implement various types of development projects. Pura Vida has donated a small school bus to Santa Anita as well as a new depulping machine to be put into use for the 2009 harvest. In March of 2009, Pura Vida committed to sponsor BUILD's project in Santa Anita, and both groups are now pursuing work on a comprehensive socioeconomic evaluation of the community.
