  • Federal Hall National Memorial -- what significant historical event happened on this spot? How is it commemorated?
  • Grand Central Station -- describe the ceiling
  • Central Park Zoo -- how many different kinds of animals does it have? What is unique about Gus the polar bear?
  • Lincoln Center -- get summer schedules for everyone -- what three VERY different types of performances that have been held at Lincoln Center over the years?
  • Times Square -- take a picture of the biggest marquee
  • Chelsea Piers Sports and Entertainment Complex -- how many pool tables does the compelx have? What else can you see from the piers
  • Chinatown -- find something interesting that the group might want to go and see

  • Intrepid -- what is the history of the intrepid? when was the intrepid decommissioned? What are the range in dates of its aircraft?
  • Belvedere Castle -- why was the castle originally built? What is its function today?
  • Battery Park -- How many places off of the island of Manhattan can you get to from Battery Park?
  • NY Public Library -- what "guards" the library entrance
  • Strawberry Fields -- what is this field named after? Why?
  • The Tram to Roosevelt Island -- what's the population of Roosevelt Island? What sights can you see from the tram?
  • Radio City Music Hall -- when did the Rockettes begin dancing at Radio City Music Hall?
  • Greenwich Village -- find something interesting that the group might want to go and see

  • NY Stock Exchange -- when was the nyse founded? How many companies are traded on the nyse?
  • Brooklyn Bridge -- what are people willing to buy it for? Ask at least 5?
  • Gracie Mansion -- why isn't Michael Bloomberg living there?
  • Alice in Wonderland Statue -- why is there a statue of Alice in Wonderland?
  • Museum of Natural History -- bring back brochures for everyone of the current exhibits?
  • Chrysler Building -- what is the spire modeled on? It could be considered an ode to the ____________
  • Broadway -- pick out a Broadway show you think the whole group should see and take a whole group picture in front of the marquee
  • Little Italy -- find something interesting that the group might want to go and see

  • Guggenheim Museum -- what is famous about the building's architecture? Who designed it?
  • United Nations -- tell the group about one of the sculptures in the sculpture park
  • Madison Square Garden -- what teams call the Garden their home?
  • Soho -- find something interesting that the group might want to go and see

  • Fulton Fish Market -- why is it notorious?
  • Rockefeller Center -- what was the height of last year's Christmas tree?
  • Simon Bolivar Statue -- why is there this statue in New York City?

  • Metropolitan Museum of Art -- what is the size of the Met's collection? From what period to what period?
  • Rose Center for Earth and Space - gather brochures for the res of the group
  • Trinity Church -- it was the _________est building in Manhattan when first erected?
  • Wall Street -- find something interesting that the group might want to go and see


    SCAVENGER HUNT RULES
  • You can ask anyone for help, however, Vera and Heather will only give three hints to each group (and you cannot call the Institute office, email or fax it).
  • You cannot take a taxi more than once (it cannot wait for you and take you to three places -- that does not count as once).
  • You need to take a picture of the whole group at each destination.
  • You need to meet us for dinner at 6:30pm at the ESPN Sportszone in Times Square with your pictures developed.
